Hi hello anon! I have absolutely no idea if you're even still following this blog but I figured even if you arent there will still be someone who will enjoy this. I would love to be writing more for game of thrones characters (currently rewatching the show actually) so I think this will be a great start.

As for your question about male!reader, I certainly could! My default tends to be gender neutral for the reader unless the ask specifies a gender or the ask involves pronouns or anatomy that assigns the reader a gender. So if you ask for male!reader specifically then I could do that! Though again I do usually default to gender neutral. I've also considered maybe including a gender tag in all my asks so you lads can easily search or block content with a certain gender of the reader. If that's something you'd like then let me know!

Was reading thru the tag and I'm curious now, on the off chance that Alastor IS able to break his curse, how would the other "love interests" react? I'm just imagining the kind of horror scenario for certain characters realizing that they have been doing some pretty heinous things to Alastor, versus some characters who, while not technically under the curse, still hold a really deranged torch for him . (It's vox.) But yeah, just curious about your thoughts.

I wouldn't say it's an off chance for it to happen (I'm definitely the type for as much as I like darker content, I do tend to need SOME sort of happy/bittersweet ending to be satisfied typically. There are some exceptions, but dead dove stuff does tend to need that for me) I don't remember who I did and didn't talk about, so forgive me for any repeats.

Everyone more or less feels immense guilt and horror for what they've done, simple as that (with a few exceptions of course). But I think most people in the hellaverse really aren't into the whole "unwanted attention" thing, so I think most would feel like shit about it. If not just sorta uncomfortable that they felt so strongly that way about THE Radio Demon.

Charlie would try to do as much as she could to make it up to Alastor, sorta too much honestly. I can see her accidentally being TOO reminiscent of "Obsessed Charlie" for Alastor's liking with her sorta hovering in concern and trying to overcompensate for what she's done. So Alastor wouldn't want to spend time with her as much. Vaggie would be the opposite to Charlie: Actively avoiding Alastor due to both guilt and genuine discomfort with him. I can see her having worries about actually being like that, or a potential to be like her obsessed version, due to how she knows she has the potential to be a murderous exterminator. But it's something she would bottle up and I can see her actively denying it as something she'd ever do with the forced fem, traps, and such. I can honestly see her and Alastor yelling about this, Alastor telling her to just ACCEPT that yes, she did do the awful things. It was her at the end of the day, even if a twisted version. Which, while that certainly can be up to debate, is more or less how Alastor saw the curse: Everyone WAS themselves, just a darker twisted versions of themselves.

Angel would feel like so much shit just because he'd feel what he did was a touch too close to what Valentino does to him, even if it's just one thing. I can imagine him having some underlying fear that he HAS done something to Alastor, but he was unable to remember it because of how often he got drugged/drunk WITH Alastor. It could certainly form a worry that Angel would have to deal with frequently "being another Valentino", which everyone has to assure him he isn't. Husk still would not like Alastor, but he also would not at all be happy with how he treated the guy. I feel like Husk would be embarrassed in addition to feeling guilty about his Obsessed-self, just due to it seeming kind of pathetic (the guy is in love with the man who owns his soul and treats him like shit is not exactly love story material). Husk knows when to keep his distance and let Alastor come to him if there are any points that his boss needs to talk it out or a begrudging shoulder to lean on. I can also see him asking if Alastor would rather make his own drink rather than let Husk do it, just so Alastor knows Husk hasn't put anything in as I think Alastor would still have a lot of paranoia post-curse in this ending. Husk still doesn't really LIKE Alastor, but he would certainly pity the guy. I think he'd honestly have mixed feelings about it because, Husk seems like the type to be like "Yeah, Alastor deserves the worst", but then also seems like he still wouldn't exactly wish the worst thing to happen (like unwanted advances or assault) to happen on his worst enemy. Funnily enough, where in canon Husk and Angel bond over being soul bound, I feel like in this ending of this AU they'd bond over feeling like shit for drugging Alastor and competing to do so when they were obsessed. I don't know if they'd have the same relationship as canon, but I do think they'd form some sort of friendship. I can see them trying to keep the other in check with the Obsession "withdrawals" or lingering effects. Like if Angel sees Husk unconsciously putting something in Al's drink, he stops him. Same with Husk, if he sees Angel doing something close to his old antics, he calls him out. I think everyone in the hotel tries to keep the others on track with that sort of thing, but Husk and Angel forming an agreement to help each other with it is something I can see happening.

Niffty is... well, she's Niffty. She's by no means dumb (at least I think she isn't personally, but she was described as not being very bright) but let us be real: she's a masochist and arguably a sadist to some extent. I think in all honesty, she'd be hard to read on how she felt post-Obsession. I can see her making comments about being jealous of Alastor having the curse ("Though, I could do without the girls. But all those bad boys-"). I think Niffty would more or less carry herself similarly as she does in the show, and I can see Alastor both appreciating and not appreciating it. On one hand, he does like seeing Niffty just as herself in full force and not receiving the pity party everyone else has for him. However, Niffty doesn't deny the things she's done in the past, and Alastor respects that as well. What he DOESN'T like is the total lack of awareness of disliking touch. While in canon he canonically doesn't like to be touched by others with the exception of Niffty, in this AU Alastor REALLY can't stand touch even by Niffty. I'm sure you can assume why. So Niffty just climbing on his person isn't something he's as tolerant of as his canon self. Niffty for the most part brushes off the obsession part. I can see her getting some moments of grief for Alastor, but I dunno. We'll have to see her more in season 2 to get a better grasp of her character, we just haven't seen her actually feel bad or have any real empathy yet so I'm not sure how accurate her just moving on from the situation is. I can see her having some guilt, I do, just not as immense as some of the others.

In this AU, Lucifer and Alastor never really got to disliking each other as seen in canon, at least on Lucifer's side. While Alastor was genuinely antagonistic to Lucifer, Lucifer during the curse was antagonistic in a more flirtatious way. As a reminder, Lucifer was under the impression that Alastor liked him as well and was just playing "hard to get" with him, enjoying the chase. Plus, Lucifer just didn't feel threatened as Charlie's father by Alastor because 1. He, in this au, would LIKE Alastor to be a father to Charlie. Just on account that he'd be in a relationship with Lucifer as well. 2. Alastor acts less "fatherly" towards Charlie in this AU. He doesn't even try to act it on the account that he knows any "affection" towards Charlie would've been taken as an affirmation of his "feelings" for her. And he didn't want to play into that to avoid any future uncomfortable scenarios. So post-obsession Lucifer I think, while definitely would get more genuinely mad about any off-hand comments made by Alastor about Lucifer's poor father role in Charlie's life, I don't think he dislikes Alastor as much as in canon. He would feel super guilty about it I think and genuinely try to give an olive branch of sorts to Alastor. I can see him withdrawing and keeping to himself as I'm guessing that's his go-to for dealing with situations like this (like think how Lilith's leaving made it so he kinda just stopped talking to Charlie and shut himself in). He'd feel super awkward with Alastor though, but I also imagine him to have the least amount of "lapses" into his obsession self out of everyone. So I can see, while not exactly being a fan of the king, Alastor going to spend time with Lucifer more often than you would think. I can actually see on one occasion Alastor still being so tired from being paranoid about the curse and just generally exhausted that he does actively try to push himself onto Lucifer, but Lucifer while very confused and awkward at first, does get to be stern with Alastor in that: - He wouldn't force a relationship Alastor doesn't truly want onto Alastor - Lucifer just isn't into him. I personally HC Lucifer as only being into women, so I lowkey would apply it to this AU, but that little nugget of knowledge can be left out for anyone who does not care for that idea, haha. Funnily enough, I can see Alastor and Lucifer growing to have a fairly close relationship post-obsession compared to most others. There's definitely an irony in me saying THESE two would have probably the best relationship concerning Alastor post-obsession. If you know you know lol

I don't think Vox or Valentino would feel bad. Velvette wouldn't either, but Vox already has a clear beef with Alastor (I imagine he'd just blame Al for making him act a fool), and Valentino is Valentino. While I don't think he'd be a fan having been "drugged" in a sense to love Alastor, I don't think that he'd be upset about his own actions. More than likely, Valentino would be curious about the curse and still want Alastor in bed with him as one of his whores. He's just, y'know... not as overt about it anymore? Especially since Alastor's energy would recover a lot more in this ending not having to deal with unwanted affection all the time anymore, so Alastor would be more likely to physically retaliate to that sort of thing. Velvette I think just would be frustrated and maybe a little grossed out that she "wanted" some old fad like Alastor. Of course, if she had managed to get him and dress him up like a doll for a bit, I'm sure she'd be interested in having him as some sort of model remembering how good he looked.

You don’t know how long you stayed there. At some point, Joel had backed away, leaving Tess alone to pin you to the wall. You aren’t sure when you responded to the contact, but your face is buried in her shoulder and your hands are holding on to her t-shirt at her waist. You’re positive her shirt is soaked through with the tears that still slip free. You’re not ready to face them yet; just because you’ve accepted this situation for the moment doesn’t mean you’re ready to face it yet. Her hands trail up and down your back. She’s talking to you, but you’re not hearing her. You don’t want whatever words of comfort she offers at the moment. 

Tess presses a kiss to the top of your head, and then to your temple. She nuzzles against you, trying to coax you out of her shoulder as her fingers slip beneath your jacket and t-shirt. You freeze at the feeling of her hands on your hips; you pull back into the wall, hands flying to her wrist to grab onto them tightly. “No.” You tell her, trying to push her hands away. 

She shuffles closer to you, pressing her body against yours to pin you to the wall completely. “You’re alright.” You shake your head, hands pressing against her wrists. She kisses your cheek, her hands moving out from under your shirt to twist out of your hold. She grabs your own wrists and brings them up over your head, pinning them above your head. The stretch in your stomach gives you butterflies, and you watch her with wide eyes. 

“Tess.” You call her name warningly, your wrists tugging at the tight fingers holding you hostage. She smirks at you in return, shifting your hands to one of hers while the other curls under your jaw. She leans down and captures your lips with her own. While you are still reeling from the action, she takes advantage by pressing a knee between your own before you have a chance to recover your wits. She hums against your mouth, the hand on your jaw sliding down, squeezing one of your breasts, before sliding lower to slip back beneath your shirt, warm fingertips teasing your taunt belly. Her touch is light and warm, and it wars with the cool air that hits your skin as she pushes your shirt up with her hand. Your breath catches, and your brain short-circuits under the close contact. Fuck, captor or not, you’re way too touch-starved to last long if this gentle dominance is how she plans to play. You duck your head, breaking the kiss to gasp for air and regain some semblance of control. Tess snorts, her mouth at your ear now, “Oh yeah?” She challenges, her breath hot on your skin as her fingers find your clit, causing your breath to hitch for a moment. “Would’ve come right to me had I expressed interest?”

He’s in decent enough shape, but Joel would undoubtedly win that fight. Tess’ fingers slide further into your crotch, curling to find your entrance. You gasp when one finger slides into you, it goes in easier than you hoped, and Tess chuckles. 

“She’s wet for us.” She comments to Joel, whose eyes drop to where Tess’ hand is buried between your legs. 

“Yeah?” His own voice dropping and going a little breathy at the sight. You notice the way his eyes darken and when you glance down, you can make out a bulge in his jeans. He’s hard. You look back at Tess, not quite sure what to make of Joel Miller getting aroused at the sight of his girlfriend fingering you.

“No isn’t an option, pet. Come on now, we don’t wanna hurt ya. We wanna make ya feel good.” He successfully strips you of the top half of your clothing, and you fold your arms across your chest in a small act to gain some modesty. You can hear him toss them somewhere behind you and you close your eyes, trying to ignore the fact that you’re completely nude in front of Joel Miller. Bastard. His hands leave you for a second, but before you could get your hopes up, he’s grabbing your wrists, guiding them to rest at your lower back, shifting to hold them with one hand, much like Tess had done when she pinned you to the wall. 

“You were doing so good, pet. Why’d you have misbehave like that?” Joel groans, as if he is genuinely disappointed in the fact that you’re fighting him.

Random question, but let's say that Itachi lived right? Like all the way to Boruto, do you think Itachi would probably be that one, almost, father figure to Sarada in a way? Considering since Sasuke has always been away from the two of them (Sakura and Sarada) if Itachi decided to stay in Konoha instead of traveling with Sasuke? Also I wonder how Itachi would react to Sasuke being with Sakura as well, I wonder, what do you think?

Interesting question.

To answer this, we need to consider some major factors that were crucial in shaping their lives.

If itachi lived, he should have the development he did during the war i.e. realizing treating Sasuke like a baby was a bad choice he made all along.

Sasuke doesn't know Itachi is alive. Why would he leave the village in the first place if Itachi was alive?

Itachi doesn't know where Sasuke is. Why else would Itachi stay in the village if he could be with his brother?

Konoha has somehow cleared his name and acknowledged its own crimes against the clan.

Still, I'm going to answer this question with the ideas that are independent of each other and don't need each other to exist (if that makes sense?)

I think Itachi would be a terrible father figure to Sarada. He didn't grow up to lead a normal life full of love and comfort. He was a Shinobi who was trained to kill. That's what he did all his life and he never had the time to be anything other than that. He loved Sasuke a lot, but his expression was thoroughly violent, although under extreme duress, and in a slightly easier life he'd have served better. He doesn't know how to be a normal person. He doesn't understand how to be something that's not a Shinobi and a killer. He was conditioned since his childhood to live a certain way and the change in the lifestyle would not change anything for him. I personally don't see him being able to guide Sarada or be a positive/healthy influence in her life. He can't give anything to her, or anyone, for that matter.

He's way, way too damaged as a person. Even if you include therapy sessions those won't erase his past and what he feels about himself. He can't offer anything in a bonding that isn't with Sasuke. He'd still feel some affection towards Sarada. He has no reason to not like her, but he can't be a parent figure to her. I mean, isn't that the whole reason Sasuke, too, isn't a 'good father' to Sarada? He too is damaged beyond repair.

Some anti-SS content under the cut. No slander or bashing of the characters, but my opinion on why Itachi might not approve of Sakura as his brother's life partner. I'll tag the post accordingly. Please don't read if you're a fan of the pairing.

He will not be overly thrilled about Sakura being in Sasuke's life. Sasuke didn't love Sakura and Sakura never loved Sasuke. She was obsessed with an image of his she found alluring and his absence in her life fed that longing further, making her feel she loved him. He was a trophy for her she was to win in the contest of her rivalry against Ino.

In other words, she had no genuine feelings for Sasuke.

Sasuke, too, never felt any affiliation towards her. Yes, there were some moments he cared about her deeply, but he's genuinely kind and caring towards people. If he loved her he'd be more open about his feelings.

When Itachi met Team 7 in the Kazekage Rescue Arc, he paid no attention to Sakura. His attention was solely on Naruto and was happy to see Naruto had grown so much from the last time they met. There was a reason he entrusted Sasuke with Naruto. And he wouldn't be too pleased to know that Sakura once tried to kill his brother for whom he bore the worst pains and sins in his heart.

That alone would infuriate him. However, it wouldn't matter to him if Sasuke really loved Sakura, because I don't think the Itachi that bid farewell to Sasuke in the war would claim any stakes on him. If Sasuke loved Sakura he would be okay with it, but not trust her. Itachi's brain works in different ways. xD

Itachi would also understand there's a reason his brother doesn't want to be with his family. And his lack of affection towards them would tell him everything. He decided things for Sasuke when he saw him as a child in the past, but won't make the same mistakes again.

I think he'd like Sarada, but won't be extremely fond of Sakura. Though I don't see him being good with kids at all.

I feel like I should give a little context to these comics and where they come from lol. I wasn't very clear about the backstory in my original post. I do agree, when I found these, I thought they were super important, too, particularly because I don't think a lot of the fandom knows about these books lol.

The Danganronpa 4コマ KINGS anthology series was published in the early 2010's featuring a bunch of different artists. The series is 4 volumes long and published by Spike Chunsoft, meaning, while these aren't necessarily canon, they ARE official :)

There is another series of anthologies in relation to both the first and second games, but I don't have those.

The first two volumes of this series is relatively well documented. There are sites where English translations have already been added to all of the comics in them (I'm pretty sure), as well as some screenshots popping up on places like Pinterest.

The third and fourth installments, however, are really poorly archived. The third has some content from it floating around, but it's hard to come by. The fourth had almost no information on it no matter where I searched.

I say this because a while ago I found the ONLY pictures of the Mastermind!Taka comic on this really old Tumblr blog from 2014 and REALLY wanted to figure out what it was about. (Didn't help that I couldn't read some of the bubbles in those photos.) First I searched for an English translation (there wasn't (so I'm working on one hehe)), then I tried to find which book it was even from, and NOTHING!

These books, since they were in circulation around 2014-ish, have stopped being printed, so copies of them are very hard to come by. Luckily, I was able to get my copies from a kind stranger on Ebay :)

A lot of folks don't realise that they're fanpolice, or at least have the potential to be fanpolice (or engage in feelings yakuza style behaviours), and a good way to check if you're fanpol - at least when it comes to fanfiction - is a common sentiment that even I've fallen into the trap of expressing, and it goes like this:

'I just need the author to know they're writing something that's wrong.'

It could be that you read something triggery or squicky, or that the author is writing something so dark, you're genuinely unsure they understand that something is morally objectionable irl.

On AO3 this is very easy to check: Did they use appropriate warnings? And tags? Does the content of this fic reasonably fall under these tags and warnings?

If the answer is yes, then the author knows.

They might not share the same understanding as you, but they certainly know enough to warn folks in advance. It might even be tags that you've always been comfortable with but for some reason, in this one fic, get squicked by, and immediately assume 'oh god it's the author' and not 'oh god, it's the writing, I've been squicked.'

If you're still unable to distinguish whether the author knows the difference between right and wrong after seeing an author appropriately tag a work with something like 'dead dove: do not eat' - you may not be able to tell the difference, or alternatively, are having a kneejerk reaction to something very squicky personally.

(In the case of fics that have been inappropriately Warned for - i.e. 'No Warnings Apply' in the case of Rape or Major Character Death, you can certainly give AO3 support a heads up about these fics. There's a reason those warnings are mandatory in the absence of 'Creator Chose Not To Use')

Some folks are just going to be 'antis' about everything, but some of us can stumble into fanpol behaviours when we're shocked by content we didn't expect to find shocking, and we immediately look for somewhere to blame our unexpected shock and discomfort. If the first place you go is into the author's comments or inbox with that blame (or an attempt to shame, ridicule, or mock) that's fancop behaviour.

I think it's worth noting that there's a grey area where many folks have engaged with fanpolice / fanpol / fancop / anti style behaviour while still generally being very supportive of philosophies like 'don't like / don't read' etc. and not realising that these philosophies still apply to you even if you have an extremely strong emotional reaction to something you didn't expect to.

Many of us are going to also experience this, or have in the past. If we like surfing certain tags, if we've read enough DD:DNR fics 'safely' it might not occur to us that other authors might have different ways of writing under those tags.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Certainly because I've done it myself, years ago now, and I've seen other folks who would consider themselves very supportive of all fanfiction do it, and you can sort of tell by the language they use. As soon as you see a: 'I wish I just knew that the author understood this was wrong irl :/ ' - and the fic is tagged for - there's something going on that's leading to fancop style thinking. Often it's to try and correct a sense of emotional injustice or betrayal, sometimes it's grounded in moral panic.

Folks who cling to fancop style behaviours believe that feeling their own strong emotion (particularly those of revulsion or disgust or fear) is an accurate compass re: identifying moral injustice, and then proceed to apply 'corrections' to those around them who have caused that revulsion, disgust, or fear. But imho, it's easy for everyone to feel a strong enough emotion that they might slip into fancop thinking or behaviours without realising, for say one particular fic, or one particular ship, without ever realising, because they're 'permissive the rest of the time.'

Anyway, just some barely coherent thoughts on the matter that I'm barely even resolving here. I miss using Tumblr to think about this stuff out loud, so here we are, lol.

Content Warning for the following: Violence, death, sex and drug use.

This is a different Midas than Ascendant with the split in time-line happening sometime around the failure of the device, frustration and anger brewing over this. Most notably, this Midas did not lose his hand to a certain over-zealous collector, and he did not die. He did not spend time in the Underworld, and therefore has done none of the self-reflection that lead to any betterment.

Rather, CriMidas witnessed these misfortunes fall upon the other ones, and has been laying low to bide time until stepping into the spotlight. Previously busy building a criminal syndicate in the shadows (aided by previous organization leaders in Valeria & Montague), he's ready now to cause a bit of havoc on the island.

He despises other Midas', in particular the one who calls himself "King". He thinks the attempted reclamation of that title, and that man's "new leaf" bullshit is pathetic.

CriMidas is angry that King is doing well. He has a support system in Jules, his version of Valeria, and a crew who seem to truly love and care for him. King's efforts at being a better man are working (not that CriMidas would ever admit it), and he's living a life he should be living. In charge, comfortable, respected by many. While CriMidas is where he's at; respected by the few he keeps in his circle, but feared by everyone in the criminal ring beneath him.

However, if feared if what he is, then so be it. CriMidas drinks, smokes, and is a frequent drug user (cocaine, mostly). He fucks anyone he wants, and gets whatever he wants. He's doing just fine. It's only King's attitude that pisses him off.

-"King Midas thinks he's better than everyone else because, what? He went to Hell for a few years? Fuck him. I can undo his 'progress'."

This Midas is cold with a short fuse. He has no contact with his daughter, and allows extremely few people close to him. The only exception being his two confidants, Montague and Valeria. They are his right and left hand, and the only two who can influence his decisions (often times too short-sighted to see just how many strings they control). Even with them, he does not discuss emotions as he spends little time thinking on "feelings" himself.

He is particularly ruthless, choosing to kill people by means other than his golden touch. Very much intentional, he wants to be known for his brutality over his curse.

He does have better control over his touch than some versions of Midas. Tapped into his anger and shut-off to most other feelings, he very rarely looses control. He'll turn everything he touches when in a rage, but to him, this is as intended. Although he does have a quick temper, truly losing himself to it is an extreme rarity.

Wears his hair similar to Kado on purpose. Emulating a man who got the better of other Midas', but who he successfully avoided is an intentional slight to all those parties. His blog title is also a dig at any Midas who wears a crown.

Questions under the cut!

When did you start writing?

I suppose depends what counts? Where I went to school we did creative writing as early as six. The first stories I remember were Halloween stories I wrote with very unhappy endings.

Writing purely for myself maybe not till high school? I dabbled in a little fanfiction and then didn't touch it again for years and years and then suddenly BG3 and Rugan happened, smdh.

Are there different themes or genres you enjoy reading than what you write?

Is there a writer you want to emulate or get compared to often?

Just like Krios I enjoy horror novels, although I actually prefer horror as short stories/novellas. If you look at my spotify history you will see a lot of NoSleep podcast and Knifepoint Horror so its definitely a running theme. I could never write horror though, would spook myself too much. I did rather like the tiny horror story in one of the books in Baldurs Gate.

I also enjoy reading low fantasy (low magic, more grit, considerably plucky, ensemble casts) which I think comes across in New Tricks, but in contrast the stories I read have very minimal if any romance.

Can you tell me a bit about your writing space?

Nope, as much as there are many writers I enjoy and at times think "I wish I were that talented" I also don't wish to be a perfect copy of anyone's style because what's the point of that?

I suppose if it was something more like "as funny as so and so" or "world-building on level of such and such" then probably Pratchett, Rothfuss, Sapowski or Glen Cook?

I will literally write anywhere, a lot of my ideas pop-up while daydreaming and I have to get them down when they happen or I won't remember clearly later. So at my desk, in bed, on the couch, on the train, standing in the shoppe, literally anywhere.

What's your most effective way to muster up a muse?

Consuming other media. Books, TV, movies, podcasts, etc. Seeing a scene or circumstance and imagining how the characters I write would react under similar circumstances.

Are there any recurring themes in your writing? Do they surprise you?

Hmm hadn't considered it before but I guess so far: grey morality, class differences (this likely due to my muse being Rugan) and overcoming betrayal? I suppose the last one surprises me a little, I think I might just like the angst of it.

What is your reason for writing?

Is there any specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating?

I mentioned earlier I haven't touched personal creative writing since high school, although I did consume fanfiction on occasion. I originally returned due to a frustration at the lack of Rugan content. I wanted to consume, but at the time there wasn't much, compounded by the fact that I did not have an AO3 account at the time so of the few that existed I could only see half. So I started by writing how I thought getting that drink at the Elf Song might go.

After that I got a bit attached to the OC and was inspired by the works of @dustdeepsea to write something with a little more emotional depth. I was prone to daydreaming these sorts of things before but I never put pen to paper till now.

I'm happy any time someone enjoys my work, but I suppose the best comments are when the reader notices the characterization I've been trying to get across. It makes me feel validated that I'm able to write certain qualities without (hopefully) being too on the nose with it.

How do you want to be thought about by your readers?

Me or my writing? Myself, hopefully reasonable and open-minded. My writing, I hope they find it funny and exciting in turns, I hope it makes people feel some sort of emotion even if negative rather than being boring. I hope the world I've tried to piece together from bits of Forgotten Realms lore feels consistent and cohesive, that the rules and stakes make sense.

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

Similar to Krios I think my dialogue comes across the best of all my writing, and it certainly feels the easiest to get down.

How do you feel about your own writing?

It seems to change by day and chapter. There are some things that when I write I'm quite pleased, and then come back a month later and am quite embarrassed by. Other things I didn't like originally but actually enjoy quite a bit on reread. I find myself having to just post things I'm unhappy with at times otherwise I won't get on with the story. I jokingly tell myself "we'll fix it in post!" and I have slowly begun some edits of early chapters so it's not a complete lie.

When you write, are you influenced by what others might enjoy reading, or do you write purely for yourself, or a mix of both?

It's mostly what I think the story needs at the time. There are times where I feel "augh we've been on this mood/theme for too long, the reader will get bored" but I try to reframe it to myself as "is the pacing good? is this scene necessary right now?" and that helps me make a decision that is hopefully a bit more objective. Sometimes we need that information for later, sometimes we don't. I have been known to go back and adjust a thing here or there if the current chapter is missing a bit of set-up and will continue to do so until the story is over. I'm treating it all as a work in progress.

Chipspeech Twitter Archive Update

Hi I should have done this months ago.. I do not know when (or if) I am going to finish that website lmao. So I am just going to share my notes from Google Docs. Should be easier to read than the original posts and helpful as a starting point if anyone else decides to make a website :3

The documents are all on commenting mode so feel free to make comments to bookmark things for yourself or write your thoughts or whatever. Under the cut I have put some formatting notes.

It's a folder, each year of Twitter posts is its own document (I tried to compile them into one but it lagged too much). There is also a document with all of the original Tumblr posts (from the accounts I could find, no tags yet but I will go back and get them eventually, also no dates but they're all from 2015), and one with the bios from the official website for ease of access.

The formatting is a little (a lot) weird and there are probably pictures that need resizing/transcription but I figured it's better to give people access now. The text is small (to keep the page count as low as possible) so you will have to zoom in.

It goes by day, organized with a bulleted list. The top level bullets are each character that tweeted that day. The second level bullets are original tweets/retweets by that character. The third+ level bullets are comment threads under that tweet, the organization here is inconsistent but imo still readable (if you think something needs an edit for clarity let me know and I'll fix it).

For each character's section of the list, normal text is that character's tweets/comments. Italicized text is anyone who is not that character. If it is labeled with unitalicized text, it is that character/important account (e.g. the official Chipspeech account), otherwise it is a fan. I also included some labels and/or clarifying comments for Vocaloid producers I like, they're not central to the story though

I got rid of the line breaks within the tweets when copying them down because it was easier to format. Sorry about that. Idk how to fix it other than going through everything again but it doesn't take away from the story so I'm leaving it for now.

If something came from a website other than Twitter, I tried to provide the link (unless its content was deleted). I did my best to transcribe the Clyp posts that were not deleted.

If something is a text-only retweet, it is marked with [retweet]. If it includes an image, it's probably a screenshot of the whole thing. I only included retweets that felt story-relevant (so no miscellaneous cat pictures, Apple-related aesthetic images, etc.), but if people really want it I can go back and add the rest.

Deleted tweets are noted with [deleted tweet], with the characters they came from if applicable. Idk how Twitter works but it the person in the thread is replying to the username of a certain character, I assumed it was that character's tweet that had been deleted. If something says [deleted Dandy thread], assume there is a deleted Dandy tweet in between each of the listed tweets (or another character, but it's usually Dandy). That was meant to be a temporary time-saver and I've gone back and fixed the ones I've found, but there's probably more I accidentally skipped.

Anything not in English is translated in a comment. Except the X-Sampa (I will fix that sometime but there's not much of it). Also it was done with the built-in Google Translate feature so it may be a little incorrect. Unclear pictures and whatnot also have clarifying comments. I can add more clarifying comments (or image IDs) if anyone needs them.

I tried not to include any unattributed fanart but there are some that I forgot to copy the handle for (I am also fixing these when I find them).

As for any future updates to this folder as a whole, I kind of want to go back through each account's liked tweets to see if there's anything funny in there but idk when that will be. That would probably be its own document.

Honestly I should have given everyone access back in June.. oops. If you have any questions you can put them in a comment on this post (or reach out to me another way, idk). As I mentioned before, feel free to use all of this as a starting point if you're making your own website.

so... I randomly discovered King Arthur, legend of the sword last year (june 2023) when I was looking for a movie to show my kids (junior high teacher here) before summer break. and boy... i am obsessed. it's been almost a year now and it's not slowing down. the hyperfixation really be hyperfixating this time. i rewrote the whole freacking script... FOR FUN 💀 (it's the autism 🤷‍♀️) as a maladaptive daydreamer many stories came to my mind, many silly self-inserts with many silly cringy personalities, and some of them eventually turned into ✨OCs✨ two of these stories I have decided I will write and publish on ao3 and wattpad, and on this blog I shall detail my progress with snippets, blurbs, edits and whatnots. you are welcome ❤︎ I am well aware that the King Arthur fandom, if it ever existed (did you know there was supposed to be 6 movies??? 😩), is probably dead and buried. But oh well, I'm in love with this movie and if no one actually reads my fics or likes my posts then so be it. i'm just happy to share my silly stories ❤︎

★ about the female OCs: All my fanfictions as of now had started as self-inself daydreaming. I have a maladaptive daydreaming and dissociative disorders and sometimes these stories become more than just silly little self insert scenes with my current obsession, and they start growing and growing until at some point the self-insert persona turns into a whole new original character.

Which is why the female main OCs are most of the time blondes with green eyes and fair skin, because as former self-inserts, they look like me. But their personalities and goals have developed so much that they no longer resemble mine. They have become their own. These characters I now think of as OCs and not avatars of myself.

→ I consider my work to not be self-insert for these reasons but i understand if some disagree.

★ I will first focus on The King's Bride because it's less serious, more of a fun fluffy romance and requires less research and plot devices. to be clear: this isn't some "i'm above this argument" thing. on the contrary; i completely see where both "sides" are coming from! i simply mean it shouldn't be so difficult for a select few shit-stirrers to Get that selfshipping is a personal thing, and we should be able to ship in whatever way makes us most comfortable.

if someone is non-sharing, they should be allowed to create those boundaries without being harassed or called "immature" or "delusional" by sharing people. beyond how supremely ableist that is, nobody has the right to say they can't view their f/os in a certain way, no matter if other people don't understand those feelings.

if someone is sharing, they should be allowed to share their feelings for a character openly with other sharing people without being sent hate from non-sharing people who think they're "loose" or who want to be their f/o's "one and only". shaming people for being open to sharing is fucked from multiple "sexual / romantic purity" and "anti poly-[sexual / romantic / platonic] relationships" angles, and nobody has the right to claim sole and total ownership over a character they did not make.

and yet, every couple of weeks, we get posts from a vocal minority making a huge fuss over "the other side", when it's just a vocal minority FROM that other side ALSO making a fuss. and then those vague posts leave their intended orbit and cause more mis-worded posts and misunderstandings and off-the-cuff bigoted statements, and the cycle starts again.

we should theoretically be able to respect each other while focusing that energy on, oh i dunno, chasing harassers out of the community? getting selfshippers who aren't part of a specific marginalized group to help selfshippers from that group when they're harassed, maybe?? especially when the sharing vs non-sharing Thing very often coincides with bigotry; people who are harassing others tend to not just stop at being petty or mean, they make it personal.

and -- not as important but a nice little bonus -- i would think that working towards a community that's more safe for everyone in it would also "coincidentally" (/s) get rid of the shit-stirrers, whether because they were kicked out or because they realized what they were doing and grew as people.

delusions aren't morally "bad" or "wrong". holding deep feelings abt a character isn't inherently delusion-based and also isn't morally "bad" or "wrong". and neither of those is the same as -- speaking from experience (above content warnings come into play here) -- being obsessed with a character to the point that you self-isolate and emotionally self harm because you wish so badly that the character was real and you believe there isn't a point to life if you'll never meet that character... and this is also not inherently delusion-based and ALSO not morally "bad" or "wrong".

these separate things -- delusions, deep feelings, and unhealthy obsession -- CAN intersect but just as often don't. none are immoral, and all are deserving of being approached with compassion and respect, in whatever way is most appropriate.

negative, harmful ACTIONS that some people take in these states are worth bringing up to them when it's safe to do so, depending on the details of their situation, but the states themselves don't have any moral weight. ie, if someone's harassing others for sharing their f/o because they're in a dark, obsessive place, that is a morally negative ACTION, not a morally negative mental state. they need to take responsibility for harm they've CAUSED, not for what they're experiencing internally.

but if you're calling people "immature" or "delusional" as an insult, something tells me you're not really considering that! whether through malice or just a lack of compassion, you don't see worth in how another person approaches this community.

you aren't better for thinking of a character a certain way, and neither is the person you're being ableist towards. if no harm is being done to you or others, you're just being a dick for the sake of being a dick. listen to other people, learn, and do better.

if you think someone is genuinely in a bad mental place because of selfshipping (wrt isolating and self harm), approach them as another human being. meet them where they're at. don't patronize them, don't call them "delusional", treat them like someone who has their own thoughts and values.

they may want help, or they may not, and you have to respect them for their choice no matter what YOU think is right. there is no truly right way to approach someone who's in a dark place, but you can at least avoid saying things that FOR SURE will make them feel talked down to, belittled, or shamed. if they aren't ready now, maybe they will be ready for help in the future, and shutting them down will make them less likely to seek that help.

(i was also going to put THIS in the tags but i should probably put it here: when i say 'learn and change' i mean it as a positive. people have the capacity to learn and grow and become better; if you've said something in all of this that can be read as harmful... consider why it's harmful and why you said it.

you aren't the same person you were a year ago. 5yrs ago. 10yrs ago. you have grown and you will continue to grow. but if you can be more aware of it and grow more purposefully and consciously? all the better.)

9 People to Get to Know Better

1. Three ships: In general, you can just say the word 'partners' and my ears will perk up like a German shepherd who's just heard a slice of American cheese crinkle open, but here are three that my AO3 history says I've read in the past six months.

(Answers below the cut because this got long).

Jyn Erso/Cassian Andor (Star Wars): War refugees finding purpose in self-sacrifice to higher ideals. Brief comfort in each other while facing the horrors. Reading into the unsaid. This one is funny because it's had a lot of longevity for me although it's never lived in the hyperfixation category. The only time I like Star Wars is when it leaves the Jedi hocus-pocus and nostalgia references behind, which means Rogue One and Andor are my personal pinnacle of SW.

Simon "Ghost" Riley/John "Soap" MacTavish (COD): Similar to above, although the military propaganda bois here have less nobility in their cause. You know, it's that— “You want to be brothers-in-arms, to have him to yourself […] to be shipwrecked together, [to] perform valiant deeds to earn his admiration, to save him from certain death, to die for him — to die in his arms, like a Spartan, kissed once on the lips […] or just run his errands in the meanwhile. You want him to know what cannot be spoken, and to make the perfect reply, in the same language.” (Stoppard, The Invention of Love) Safe to say, my definition of romance includes camaraderie, devotion, banter, and gritted teeth. Also, the pro of one-dimensional video game characters is that fic writers can fill in the blanks with whatever they want, and this ship has some crazy-talented authors who flesh them out excessively well.

Peter Parker/Wade Wilson (Marvel Comics/Sony): This is my lazily-popping-Ritz crackers-into-my-mouth ship, although I'm very fussy with which fics I read from it. It's wild and irreverent and dysfunctional, but the heart wants what it wants, and sometimes, it wants the sassy vigilante who's experienced a lifetime of grief to get caught in tête-à-têtes with an unfiltered mercenary who can't die.

2. First ever ship: Probably Zelda/Link (Legend of Zelda). Ocarina of Time told me to go rescue the princess, and my kid-self went, "Yeah, let's go get my girl. We're in love, bb."

3. Last song: Vampire Empire by Big Thief.

4. Last film: Poor Things. A willful and visually extravagant satire that made me cry once, flinch constantly, and laugh scornfully throughout. It fearlessly addressed the many ways men attempt to control women in general and their sexuality in particular. It felt like watching a novel, which is difficult to do, and the triumphant ending was a nice reward.

5. Currently reading: The Self Under Siege by Firestone, Firestone, and Catlett and Exhalation by Ted Chiang. Both are excellent and have tight, elegant writing styles that uphold their even better— although very different—content. I picked up This is How You Lose the Time War by El-Mohtar and Gladstone from the library recently, too. Why yes, that is too many books to be reading at once, thanks for noticing.

6. Currently watching: Nothing at the moment. The last thing I watched was season two of The Bear.

7. Currently consuming: Black coffee.

8. Currently craving: BBQ pork buns and guava curd doughnuts from the long-closed Asian-Portuguese fusion bakery that used to be a couple of blocks from me. RIP RIP RIP. Craving never to be slaked.

regarding your post about older RPers: to be honest, my personal recommendation is just to set your boundaries on your RP blog. Personally, I’ve found limiting my blogs to people 21 or older has sort of weeded out some of the younger writers, but I’ve seen some blogs set theirs to 25+. And if you do that—maintain that boundary! Don’t feel obligated to interact with someone or loosen up on your boundary because you’re starving for interactions and that kind of thing.

As for crossovers, I think it depends what kind of crossovers you’re talking about. Most crossover content I see is just people making AUs for other fandoms for certain characters, and most people tend to be pretty open about that. Outright fandom-clashing crossovers / multiverse mechanics / thrown into another world mechanics seems to be less common because it doesn’t always appeal to everyone, so if you’re going with the former for the most part, I think most people are pretty cool with it (in my experience, even if a character’s from a fandom I know sweet fuck all about, if they have an AU for my fandom it feels kind of like interacting with an OC, which puts a new fresh perspective on things).

Otherwise, try following the fandom tags you want to see! I find a lot of blogs that way as well, & some that don’t even know my fandom but have opted to just dive in and do some reading about it (some people are cool with that—personally it’s not my vibe, but I’m cool if other people want to do that). Hope some of this helps in your search for new writing partners!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do quite yet. I already interact with folks under 21 and would like to keep those interactions, but maybe going forward I'll change that with new interactions. I'll definitely add it to my rules if/when I do that.

I'm open to any crossover, really. There are a lot of fandoms I don't know but I'm open to interacting with them. Right now I'm going through the rp promo tag and seeing what's all out there.
